Injustice: Gods Among Us and the 3DS topped the sales charts in the US for the month of May.
The NPD Group have released their monthly sales reports for May 2013 with bleak results. Game sales for the month were $386.3 million, down 25% compared to May 2012. Software sales accounted for $187.6 million, and were down 44% from May 2012. This is mostly due to the lack of big releases in May 2013 compared with May 2012, which saw the release of Diablo III. The best-selling games last month were games that had been released in prior months.

Nintendo’s 3DS managed to best Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and end the console’s 28 month streak of being the best-selling hardware in the US. “Nintendo’s 3DS edged out the 360 as the top selling platform across hardware and portables,” reports NPD Analyst Liam Callahan. “However, the 360 was the top selling console hardware platform this month for the twenty-ninth consecutive month. The 3DS had the best year-over-year trending for hardware units, with units sales essentially flat from last May.”
Microsoft has revealed that 114,000 Xbox 360s were sold in May 2013. Nintendo notes that 3DS software sales were up 60% compared to last year, but have not released numbers for the 3DS or Wii U. Sony has not released an official statement yet.
