Batgirl confirmed for Injustice: Gods Among Us

NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. have confirmed that Barbara Gordon’s Batgirl is the second DLC character for Injustice: Gods Among Us.

In 1988, DC Comic published a graphic novel entitled ‘Batman: The Killing Joke.’ In it, Joker shot and paralyzed Barbara Gordon in front of her own father, Commisoner Gordon. The time has now come for Barbara to get her revenge as Batgirl in Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Batgirl was leaked last week when the chance to purchase her accidentally went up on Xbox Live. The posting was taken down quickly, but not before screenshots and videos were taken of its existence. NetherRealm Studios has released the first gameplay footage of Batgirl facing off against Joker in his ‘The Killing Joke’ costume.

As one would expect from a Batman-Family character, Barbara is excellent at martial arts and relies heavily on gadgets. Based on the gameplay, it appears that she uses more gadgets than Batman or Nightwing. Her special involves uses a mangerie of grappling hooks to slingshot the enemy to the ground and land on them with her sharp heels.

No release date has been announced for Batgirl, but she will cost either 400 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360 or $4.99/£3.99 on PS3. She is also part of the Injustice: Gods Among Us Season Pass. “The Killing Joke’ pack will be a separate release. No word on a Wii U release for any of the DLC.

The other two rumored DLC characters are General Zod, as a tie-in to the upcoming Man of Steel film, and Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.
