Nintendo has revealed exactly when Mario & Luigi: Dream Team will be arriving for the 3DS.
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is the fourth title in the Mario & Luigi titles and the first to be released on the 3DS. The game was announced in February as a title in the Year of Luigi, a year meant to celebrate Luigi who is usually over-shadowed by Mario. In Mario & Luigi: Dream Team players will get to spend plenty of time with Luigi.
The game begins with Mario, Luigi and Peach making a trip to Pillow Island. There, Princess Peach gets predictably kidnapped. The only way to save Peach is to travel in Luigi’s dreams using special magical pillows. In these dreams, Mario and dream Luigi team up to take down enemies. Meanwhile, the player can play with Luigi’s face on the touchscreen to affect what is going on in the dream.
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team plays very similarly to past entries in the franchise. Players will have to make use of both character’s unique abilities to progress through the environment. Luigi can helicopter jump over gaps and Mario can super jump to get to higher places. Sometimes, multiple Luigi’s will appear creating new gameplay possibilities like a super helicopter jump or a ball made entirely out of Luigi’s. Combat still involves attacking and blocking with Mario assigned to the A button and Luigi to the B button.
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is out July 12 in Europe and August 11 in North America. Check out the trailer below:
