Sega has announced that the fan-favorite witch who straps guns to each limb is coming to PSN.
Bayonetta launched early 2010 on the PS3 and Xbox 360 to strong reviews. Critics were especially pleased by the game’s combat, visuals and campy, but enjoyable dialogue. The Xbox 360 version received the most praise as it was the most polished version. The PS3 version was simply a port handled by Sega rather than Platinum Games, the developer. Reviews criticized Bayonetta on the PS3 for its excessive slowdown and loading.
Two years later, Bayonetta for PS3 has received significant support and is now coming to PSN. The PS3’s library is huge with Sony taking the initiative to add the vast library on PSN for a discounted price. Bayonetta will be the latest edition.
The stylish and cinematic Bayonetta was directed by Hideki Kamiya of Devil Mary Cry fame. Players took control of Bayonetta, a witch with a fetish for stick guns to every limb. She could also create giant monsters from her clothing. Bayonetta also featured some amazing and absolutely huge boss fights that had to be seen to be believed.
A sequel, Bayonetta 2, is in development, but will not be released on the PS3 or Xbox 360. Bayonetta 2 will be a Wii U exclusive as Nintendo is publishing the game.
Bayonetta is out on PSN January 29 in North America and January 30 in Europe for $19.99/£11.99/€14.99/AU$23.95. It is already out on Xbox Live.
