Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei announced for Wii U
Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei

Yesterday, Nintendo unveiled Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei, a new crossover title for the Wii U.

Crossover titles are all the latest rage nowadays. Super Smash Bros, PlayStation All-Stars, Street Fighter X Tekken and Project X Zone are just a few that have released in the past couple years. Nintendo is looking to continue the crossover craze with Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei.

Atlus, the developers of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, and Intelligent Systems, the developers of the Fire Emblem franchise, are teaming up together to deliver a new crossover title. A short trailer was also revealed, but it showed nothing concerning gameplay. However, it does look like the visual art style of the game will be similar to Shin Megami Tensei rather than Fire Emblem.

Atlus is a critically acclaimed developer. Their anime inspired Shin Megami Tensei franchise has received widespread acclaim as some of the best RPGs ever created. Persona 4 Golden, their latest release, was one of the highest rated games of 2012. This will be the first Atlus title on the Wii U.

Intelligent Systems is best known for its work on the Fire Emblem and WarioWare franchises. Fire Emblem: Awakening is out early February for the 3DS, but not the Wii U. Game & Wario, their next title, is out in the coming months exclusively on the Wii U.

It is unknown how exactly the game will play, nor when it will release. Expect more details in the coming months. Check out the reveal trailer below:
