Despite being owned by Disney, Warner Bros. and Traveller’s Tales have announced LEGO Marvel Super Heroes for release October 2013.

Nobody ever thought this game would be created. As everyone knows, Warner Bros. owns DC Universe, which is the chief rival of Marvel who is owned by Disney. Warner Bros. also owns Traveller’s Tales who make all the LEGO games. To everyone’s surprise, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes has been announced and is coming this year.

“We’re very excited to bring a myriad of classic Marvel characters to life in LEGO form for some fun, family-friendly gameplay in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes,” said Tom Stone, managing director, TT Games Publishing. “Players will brave the ultimate mission to save the world as they explore famous landmarks in LEGO New York and take the adventure beyond Earth to iconic locations in the Marvel Universe.”

The story is an original creation where Nick Fury summons the heroes of the Marvel Universe to save Earth from the likes of Loki, Galactus and other villains. In total, there are over 100 characters to collect and play with including Iron Man, Thor, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Black Widow, Captain America, Deadpool and Loki among others.

This will be Traveller’s Tale’s third super hero themed LEGO title. Their previous super hero games were LEGO Batman and LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes.
