The Lightning DLC was the last DLC planned for Final Fantasy XIII-2 and now Director Motomu Toriyama is dropping hints that we might be seeing Lightning and company again pretty soon.
In a Famitsu interview (translated by Andriasang), Toriyama revealed we’ll be seeing something Final Fantasy XIII related at the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary event coming up in August.
“The [FFXIII-2] Lighting download content had an ending that left a feeling of mystery and hope. The day when the meaning of this will come to light is not too far off,” said Toriyama.
For those who do not know, the Lightning content explained how Lightning turned to crystal as shown at the end of XIII-2. However, none of the DLC episodes expanded beyond the actual ending of XIII-2. Rumors about another sequel have been running rampant.
Toriyama also took the time to give an update about Final Fantasy X for the PS3 and PS Vita. In short, don’t expect the game for a long time.
“Regarding HD conversions, there is a lot to look into, so please wait a bit more,” he said.
The HD version was announced at Sony’s 2011 TGS press briefing and has not been seen sense. The game will be an HD conversion rather than a remake.
Toriyama did not make any mention of Final Fantasy Versus XIII, the long awaited PS3 game.
The Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary event will take place August 31 through September 2. Keep an eye out here to learn what Square Enix is revealing.
