Sony has announced that LightBox Interactive’s upcoming third-person shooter, Starhawk, will be deploying on May 8, 2012. Previously, there was only confirmed release window of Spring 2012.

Sony also took the time to release some info about the upcoming public beta. A nifty little picture confirmed multiple release dates for the beta. Starting today, PS+ subscribers and Private Beta players will be able to get the beta. Those who purchased Uncharted 3 will have to wait till the 31st of January. It won’t be come available to everyone until February 21.

Also released was a list of what is going to be in the beta:

  • Classic Arcade Flight-Mode: Private Beta players asked for it and we’re happy to include the classic arcade flight from Warhawk
  • Host Migration: When the host leaves the game, the hosting duties transfer to another player and gameplay will continue, provided the option is checked.
  • Language Support: European and Japanese languages are included. Korea, China, Latin America and Brazil will be in English…but these will include the appropriate languages for the full game.
  • Skills: Players will be able to collect unique Skills to use in gameplay based on their performance. Playstation Network Friend Integration: Friends status, messages, and friend requests.
  • Bug Fixes: Lots and lots of bugs have been addressed.

Starhawk is the successor to the 2007 multiplayer game Warhawk. Unlike its predecessor, Starhawk will feature a singleplayer campaign and will take place in Space! Look for it on May 8, 2012 exclusively for the PS3.
