Modern Warfare 3 Already Being Played?

While it’s been rumored to have been in development for some time, there’s been no confirmation of its existence. However, there’s a slight chance that’s about to change.

According to one player, known as ‘egonadrian’, the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise is currently in the process of alpha testing. There’s an image of his account below, reportedly it shows him playing the game.

Modern Warfare 3 was previously reported to be in development at Infinity Ward, but was supposedly hampered by legal issues. It’s unknown what the development status is as of now.

We’ll leave it to you to decide whether you think it’s real or not. But for now, take this with a very thin grain of salt.

    actually this looks real ! plus i have heard that quick scoping is back!!!!!!! and that theirs a new game mode i dont know any info aought the new game mode it could be zombies , spec ops , something in between , new missions , we dont know! but i know that it will be bad ass!!! and i have heared that their will be 2 new game modes in multiplayer!!!!!!!!!!! still no info well thats all i know! but this pic definatly looks real

    This isn’t true, this is infact from a jailbroken PS3, you can rename games of things to look like they are other games you are playing. Hope this clears it up.

    This is obviously someone using homebrew to change the title of a game to Modern Warfare 3.

    First of all, the title is way too descriptive, and secondly would an internal Alpha tester really put “Modern Warfare 3!!!!!!!!” as their status? I think not.

    OF COURSE MW:3 is in development, its coming out this year! And there will be NO legal wrangles either. Activision OWN IW and the call of duty franchise, those two wankers that have left own NOTHING! that’s what happens when u sell your soul! And only sissy campers care about quick scoping!

    This guy is a hacker it’s way more likely he manipulated something. Nothing on the internet supports that “egonadrian” as a profile or username would have access to MW3 alpha code. He would have to have a debug PS3 first.

    Just so you all know MW3 is NOT comin out this year. Sledgehammer are creating the new COD series which is due for release at the end of this year.

    Just so you know… due to Geohot’s custom firmware, users are able to write their own .pkg files.. which means someone could easily create a new “app” named “Modern Warfare 3: Alpha Testing” & launch it while signed into PSN.. and it will show they are “playing” it on their profile.. when really, It’s just some homebrew game like Snake.. lol

    e.g. When you launch Snes9x PS3 emulator, it shows that you are playing “Snes9x” on your PSN profile.

And @ John, you said that the new CoD is NOT coming out this year, but then go on to say that it due out later this year… “?”. So if it is due out later this year then it WILL be coming out this year won’t it?

    Also, when you select “Friends” on the screen, it comes up with “Message List” ect, before showing any ACTUAL friends….

    There is a MW3 beta but its in alpha stage and its PC only. A friend on Steam has it. He said they randomly select active players. Since its on steam, I highly dought its fake.

    It’s a shame, seems like Bungie and Microsoft all over again. Hopefully we’ll see Sony put it into the hands of another decent developer. Intrigued to see what Insomniac does with Overstrike!
