Konami has announced that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will hit retail on October 5 in North America.

The game lets play­ers assume the role of Gabriel Belmont, a mem­ber of an elite group of holy knights, as he sets off on a jour­ney across the des­troyed world to track down the “Lords of Shadow” in order to unite the pieces of a relic called “The God Mask” that can purify and bring peace to the world. Oh, it also has the power to bring the dead back to life.

Along Gabriel’s jour­ney play­ers will exper­i­ence more than 50 “diverse and beau­ti­fully real­ized 3D stages, come up against over 45 enemies, and defeat huge adversar­ies in real time with skill, power and tim­ing”, the game also boasts more than 40 pos­sible combo attacks that can be added to Gabriel’s arsenal.

A Limited Edition ver­sion of the game was leaked last month by Mexican retailer GamePlanet.

The game is sched­uled for release on October 5 in North America, October 7 in Europe and October 8 in the UK for PS3 and 360.
