Konami has announced that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will hit retail on October 5 in North America.

The game lets players assume the role of Gabriel Belmont, a member of an elite group of holy knights, as he sets off on a journey across the destroyed world to track down the “Lords of Shadow” in order to unite the pieces of a relic called “The God Mask” that can purify and bring peace to the world. Oh, it also has the power to bring the dead back to life.

Along Gabriel’s journey players will experience more than 50 “diverse and beautifully realized 3D stages, come up against over 45 enemies, and defeat huge adversaries in real time with skill, power and timing”, the game also boasts more than 40 possible combo attacks that can be added to Gabriel’s arsenal.

A Limited Edition version of the game was leaked last month by Mexican retailer GamePlanet.

The game is scheduled for release on October 5 in North America, October 7 in Europe and October 8 in the UK for PS3 and 360.
